    In a World Cup group with two obvious favorites — Belgium and Croatia — a young Canadian team is hoping to steal a point here and there to surprise the dominant countries in Group F and move on to the knockout stage. The odds are steep for Canada in its first group-stage match, as Belgium finished third in World Cup 2018 and ranks No. 2 in the world, per FIFA.?
    However, the Canadian team stormed through its CONCACAF qualifying, going unbeaten in 11 matches, including wins over USA and Mexico. Players to watch today include Canada’s young Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies, a left-back with blazing pace, and Belgium’s Romelu Lukaku, the country’s all-time leading goal scorer, who’s struggling with a hamstring injury.
    This year marks Canada’s second appearance ever in the World Cup, its first in 36 years, and the team is hoping to make a decent showing, especially since Toronto will be one of the host cities of the World Cup in 2026.

    The Canada vs. Belgium match takes place on?Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 2 p.m. ET (11 a.m. PT) and will be shown on Fox and Peacock nationwide in the US, along with the Mexico-Poland match before it. The other two matches on Wednesday, starting with Morocco vs. Croatia at 5 a.m. ET (2 a.m. PT), will be shown on Peacock and FS1, which is available on numerous live TV streaming services.?
