Facebook Messenger rolled out new features — including splitting payments, vanishing messages and improved voice message recording controls — to iOS and Android users in the US on Wednesday, according to Meta.
The payment splitting feature is called Split Payments; Meta started testing the feature in December. You can split a bill evenly among members in a group chat or you can change how much each person owes. A personalized message can be added to the payment, too.?
Messenger users in the US can now also send vanishing messages to each other, similar to Snapchat. The new feature, called Vanish Mode, can make messages, pictures, GIFs and stickers disappear once the other person has opened the message.?
Users can also pause, continue, preview and edit voice messages before being sent. The duration of voice messages has also been extended from 1 minute to 30 minutes.?
