The final round of the US Open golf tournament, the third major on the PGA Tour, is underway on Father’s Day. Going into round four the leaderboard includes Will Zalatoris and Matthew Fitzpatrick tied at the top with a 1-stroke lead, and stars Jon Rahm, Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy are still within striking distance. One name you won’t see is?Tiger Woods, who is resting up?for a trip to St. Andrews for next month’s British Open.
The US Open is being played amid controversy: Many PGA golfers accepted obscene sums of money to play on the?Saudi-backed LIV Tour?and?were banned?from playing in future PGA Tour events. A total of 14 LIV defectors teed it up this week, including Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia, Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau and Patrick Reed, but only four made the cut and the one with the best score after three rounds, Johnson, has 16 golfers ahead of him on the leaderboard.
