Legendary Uncharted Creator Is Working on a ‘Star Wars’ Game

    Skydance New Media is working with Lucasfilm Games to develop a “narrative-driven, action-adventure” Star Wars game. Most importantly, Skydance is being helmed by Amy Hennig, the legendary writer-director known for her work on series like Legacy of Kain, Jak and Daxter and Uncharted.
    We didn’t get many details on the new game — it’s unclear when it’ll be released, what systems it’ll come out on, what era of Star Wars the game will be set in or what kind of character you’ll play as. We might hear more at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, which runs May 26-29.
    “I’ve often described how seeing Star Wars in 1977 essentially rewired my 12-year-old brain, shaping my creative life and future indelibly,” Hennig said in a release. “I’m elated to be working with Lucasfilm Games again to tell interactive stories in this galaxy that I love.”
    This isn’t Hennig’s first crack at creating a game set in a galaxy far, far away. She previously led Visceral Games in developing a third-person action-adventure game known by the codename “Project Ragtag.”?
    The unreleased game was set between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, and would’ve focused on a massive heist. It was canceled after EA shut down Visceral in 2017.
    Skydance, which is also working on a Marvel game, isn’t the only developer venturing into the Star Wars galaxy.? TT Games’ Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga came out this month, Jedi: Fallen Order developer Respawn is working on a sequel to that game, as well as a first-person shooter and a strategy game. Quantic Dream (the studio behind Detroit: Become Human) is developing action-adventure game Star Wars: Eclipse. Knights of the Old Republic is getting a remake from Aspyr, and Ubisoft is working on an untitled open-world game.
