TikTok has rolled out a suite of new editing tools that allow users to more easily adjust video, sound, text and more, the company announced Thursday.
The updates are available now to US users and most TikTokers around the world.
Content creators can now stack, trim and split videos, TikTok said in a release, as well as reposition and edit text, change the speed of a clip, edit sounds and add sound effects.
“We’re excited to see how an enhanced editing experience powers storytelling and makes video creation intuitive and more accessible, making it easier than ever to create great content,” the company said.
Other new features allow you to zoom in and out of frames of individual clips, and add photos and video overlays for picture-in-picture or video-in-video stacking.
And TikTok’s new Photo Mode allows users to share automatically advancing images with musical backgrounds.

Videos and content made in Photo Mode can be paired with longer descriptions of up to 2,200 characters.

“With the extra space, we’re hopeful creators will have some extra room to build on the stories they’ve shared,” TikTok said.

Combined with its Chinese counterpart, Douyin, TikTok is the top-grossing non-game app in both Apple’s App Store and Google Play, raking in approximately $914.4 million in the two stores combined this quarter alone.
